Hundreds of scholars have signed a petition opposing President Trump's executive order, signed on Friday, which bars all refugees and citizens of seven Muslim countries from entering the United States.
Citing three reasons — that the order is discriminatory, that it is "detrimental" to the interests of the United States, and that it "imposes undue burden" on members of the academic community — the petition has garnered signatures from faculty members across the country, including several Nobel laureates.
In addition, scholars have been among the most outspoken opponents of the executive order on social media.
