Ex-Buckeye Coach's Past Complicates His Potential as a College President

The U. of Akron's presidential search is drawing unusual attention, thanks to reports that Jim Tressel is being considered as a candidate. Mr. Tressel (shown in a 2011 photo before he was forced out as head football coach at Ohio State U.) is now a vice president at Akron. He says he would be "flattered and interested" if the trustees offered the top job to him.

Jim Tressel has done little to tamp down rumors that he may vie for the presidency of the University of Akron, raising a host of questions about how the former Ohio State football coach might run an academic enterprise.
