Transitions: Former Lieutenant Governor to Lead Babson College; Columbia U. Names New Engineering Dean

Kerry Healey, lieutenant governor of Massachusetts under Mitt Romney and an advocate for Afghan women's rights, will become president of Babson College in July.

Richard Holton and Rae Langton, professors of philosophy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will assume professorships at the University of Cambridge in September.

Carlos Santiago, a former chief executive of the Hispanic College Fund and a former chancellor of the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, will join the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education next week as senior deputy commissioner for academic affairs.

Kyle Marrero, vice president for university advancement at the University of West Florida, has been named the next president of the University of West Georgia. In July he will succeed Beheruz N. Sethna.

Mary Cunningham Boyce, a professor of engineering who leads the mechanical-engineering department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was appointed dean of the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University.

Thomas M. DiLorenzo will become the University of North Dakota's provost and vice president for academic affairs in May. He is associate vice president for innovation, commercialization, and entrepreneurship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
