Trends, Teaching, Transformation: The Chronicle's Sessions at SXSWedu

February 08, 2016

The higher-education landscape is changing from the inside out and the outside in. At next month’s South by Southwest education conference, in Austin, Tex., The Chronicle is organizing a morning of sessions on the trends and challenges we’re seeing, plus two panels that highlight the role of innovation — in the classroom and throughout the enterprise.

As part of the event, we will again borrow a page from the TV show Shark Tank with a return of our "Shark Tank: Edu Edition."

The New Education Landscape

The Chronicle of Higher Education’s Re:Learning project provides stories and analysis about this changing moment for learning.

As we did last year, we are inviting several academic and start-up leaders to make three-minute pitches about innovative projects or products they think will deal with key problems facing higher education. A panel of experts will weigh in on each idea — not just about whether it can work but how it might affect higher education as a whole.

If you’ll be at the event and have an idea or a product you’d like to present, let us know on the form below. We plan to make audio of the session available.

We’ll also focus on teaching, with a session called "Great Moments in Teaching. Really?," where we’ll show video clips from actual courses — either online lectures or in-person instruction — and invite experts to provide running commentary on the quality of the teaching. If you plan to attend SXSWedu and have a video of your teaching that you’d like us to showcase, please use the form below to send us a link or tell us about it.

Our morning of events will kick off with a breakfast mixer that will include an interactive session on the latest trends shaping higher education.

If you’re in Austin for the event, we hope you’ll join us.
