Just two weeks after the killings at Virginia Tech, a journalism professor there has negotiated a contract for a book about the events that he plans to write with three of his students, according to Publishers Weekly.
The professor, Roland Lazenby, has tentatively titled the book April 16: Heartbreak in Blacksburg. Due out this summer from Plume, an imprint of Penguin Group, the book is to be written from the point of view of Virginia Tech students — particularly the journalism students who supplied information to hundreds of reporters covering the massacre (The Chronicle, April 27).
Mr. Lazenby has previously written about the National Basketball Association’s Los Angeles Lakers, among other topics. A portion of the proceeds from the book will go to a fund for victims of the killings and to support journalism programs at the university. —Lawrence Biemiller
