Past Ag Leader at U. of California Dies at 87; Other Deaths

Kenneth R. Farrell, who was vice president for agriculture and natural resources at the University of California from 1987 to 1995, died on January 24. He was 87.

James F. Cahill, a professor emeritus of art history at the University of California at Berkeley and a scholar of Chinese and Japanese art, died on February 14. He was 87. He taught at Berkeley from 1965 to 1994.

Lewis Yablonsky, a sociologist who worked with street gangs, drug addicts, and prisoners, died on January 29 in California. He was 89. He was a professor of sociology at California State University at Northridge and three other universities.
