Open Thread: Electronic versus Paper Course Evaluations

For the first time since I’ve started my current job, I have the option this semester to administer my course evaluations via an electronic process or via the traditional paper format.

I’ve heard feedback that online evaluations result in fewer submissions, but that many are tempted to use them as they take up less valuable class time. ProfHacker readers: what are your experiences with paper and electronic course evaluations? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Please share in the comments.
