Adjunct in Idaho Is Arrested on Assault and Weapons Charges

An adjunct professor in Idaho was arrested after allegedly threatening employees at an office-supply store at gunpoint, The Idaho Statesman reported. The incident occurred two days after the College of Western Idaho suspended Cynthia Clinkingbeard from her position as an instructor of health sciences for displaying what college officials called “erratic behavior,” the newspaper reported. Ms. Clinkingbeard, 58, also had been an adjunct in the biological-sciences department at Boise State University since 2006, but she was fired after her arrest. The authorities said that Ms. Clinkingbeard, who declared her intention to run for Congress this month, has a history of bipolar disorder.
