Catholic U.’s Single-Sex Dorms Are Not Discriminatory, D.C. Agency Says

The Catholic University of America’s return to single-sex dormitories this fall does not discriminate against students, the District of Columbia’s Office of Human Rights has decided, the Associated Press reported. John F. Banzhaf III, a law professor at George Washington University, had filed a complaint with the office, arguing that the policy amounted to sex discrimination in housing, in violation of the district’s Human Rights Act. But in an order dismissing the complaint on Tuesday, the agency said the single-sex dorm policy is not discriminatory because it doesn’t treat men and women differently.
