Ex-President of Brookdale Community College Is Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison

Peter F. Burnham resigned last year as president of Brookdale Community College, in New Jersey, over questions about his spending. He later pleaded guilty to charges of misconduct and theft. He also admitted in court to asking his son to apply for a federal student loan to pay his tuition, even though Brookdale had already paid the son’s tuition as a perk of the president’s job.

The judge also ordered Burnham to pay $44,497 in restitution to Brookdale Community College, though most of that money will come from unused vacation pay due to the former president.
