Ohio Judge Awards Kent State U. $1.2-Million in Suit Against Ex-Coach

The university sued Geno Ford, its former head men’s basketball coach, for breach of contract after he left, in 2011, to become the coach at Bradley University, in Illinois. His contract at Kent State was set to expire in 2015. A news release from the office of Mike DeWine, Ohio’s attorney general, said Kent State would continue to pursue claims against Bradley for allegedly interfering with the coach’s contract, a case scheduled for trial in October.

Bradley University issued a statement Tuesday saying its actions and Ford’s actions “have been entirely ethical, legal, and transparent. The lawsuit is ongoing and will continue to be addressed through the court system.”
