Purdue U. Will Expand Engineering by Hiring More Than 100 Professors

The effort seeks to meet demand for limited spots in the university’s college of engineering, where undergraduate enrollment grew by 17 percent from 2006 to 2011.

New professors will be sought in mechanical, astronautics and biomechanical engineering. The effort also will boost the new environmental and ecological engineering division, which recently was given state approval to offer bachelor’s degrees.
