Lawsuit Accuses Yale and Others in Woman’s Tailgating Death

Yale University, one of its fraternities, the City of New Haven, the truck-rental company U-Haul, and others were sued on Friday by the family of a woman killed by a truck carrying beer kegs in an accident at a 2011 football game between Yale and Harvard University.

The lawsuit claims Yale was well aware of the safety risks posed by allowing box trucks filled with beer for tailgate parties onto the area where pedestrians would be walking and congregating. Further, the suit claims that poor planning and crowd control led to a bottleneck of people at the very spot where box trucks were entering the tailgating area.
