U. of Windsor Suspends Dean Over Plagiarism Allegations

The Canadian university announced that the dean of its faculty of education had been suspended until June 2014 “in recognition of an academic-integrity breach involving plagiarism.” But students and alumni who have worked with the dean have expressed dismay at his suspension and are supporting him amid the charges.

The plagiarism charge is not unique to the University of Windsor. Earlier this year plagiarism charges were leveled against a research professor and an engineering student at the University of Waterloo, the dean of the medical school at the University of Alberta resigned after charges he plagiarized a graduation speech and a researcher at the University of Toronto was censured for “self-plagiarism.”
