New Obama Campaign Ad Attacks Romney on College Affordability

A new television advertisement introduced on Tuesday by President Obama’s re-election campaign attacks Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, on the issue of college affordability. The 30-second spot will air in Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio, and Virginia, according to CNN. It criticizes Mr. Romney for comments he made during an appearance at Ohio’s Otterbein University in April, and says Mr. Romney’s policy plans could make it harder for families to pay for college. A spokeswoman for Mr. Romney’s campaign responded to the ad by telling The Washington Post that the cost of attending college has “skyrocketed” during Mr. Obama’s presidency, adding, “Mitt Romney will encourage innovation and competition to make college more affordable, and his economic policies will give recent graduates the job opportunities they deserve.”
