Ohio State Accuses 85 Students of Cheating on Online Tests

At least 85 students at Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine have been accused of cheating on online take-home tests, The Columbus Dispatch reported on Tuesday.

The college began an investigation in February, and students have recently received their disciplinary sanctions. Punishments for cheating may range from a warning to dismissal, a statement from the university said.

Investigators looked at how long students took to complete certain tests and at students’ patterns of right and wrong answers. The college has since stopped using the testing software involved and has banned take-home tests that don’t permit collaboration.

Last year 24 students in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences were punished after the university found that one student had been paid to do online coursework for the others.
