Police Investigate Racist Fliers at 2 California Universities

Police officers at the University of California at Los Angeles and the University of Southern California are investigating offensive fliers mailed to Asian-American student organizations on the two campuses, the Los Angeles Times reported on Monday.

UCLA’s Asian American Studies Center and USC’s Asian Pacific American Student Services Department received fliers that contained profane and racist language about Asian women dating white men.

UCLA’s chancellor, Gene D. Block, said in a written statement that he was frustrated over the fliers and promised that the university would “combat racism and bigotry so that the campus can be the welcoming, respectful environment our community deserves.”

Mary Ho, director of Asian Pacific American Student Services at USC, said that “we will not tolerate such harmful, derogatory, and racist slurs directed at the Asian Pacific American community or at any communities.”
