U. of Louisiana Offers to Cut 138 Programs

The University of Louisiana system, in response to a mandate from the statewide Board of Regents, has offered to eliminate or consolidate 138 degree programs across its eight campuses. Over the past two years, the system has done away with 56 programs. The regents in January identified 460 degree programs at all public colleges in the state as candidates for consolidation or elimination, and Monday was the deadline for the colleges to respond. Many of them are pushing to keep some of the programs under review, The Advocate reported.
