U. of Oklahoma Settles With Professor Accused of Experimenting on Students

The University of Oklahoma has agreed to pay $75,000 to help speed the departure of a professor who is alleged to have violated research norms by using some of his students as guinea pigs in medical experiments, according to The Oklahoma Daily, the university’s student newspaper. Chad M. Kerksick, an assistant professor of exercise physiology whose research was suspended in June, will also receive an unpaid leave ending next June or whenever he gets a new job. His post at Oklahoma had been on the tenure track. The agreement, approved in September, was described in documents just obtained by the newspaper.
