Wildfire Forces Cal State-San Marcos to Evacuate and Cancel Commencements

California State University at San Marcos evacuated its campus on Wednesday and canceled graduation ceremonies planned for this weekend as a wildfire burned on a nearby hillside, in San Diego County. Numerous wildfires are burning in the county.

The campus will remain closed through Friday, the university said in one of several updates posted on a university webpage throughout the day, and commencement ceremonies that had been scheduled for Friday and Saturday were canceled. “The safety of our students, faculty, staff, and their families is our primary concern,” the university said.
