The Google Book Search collection is growing by the day, as the search giant works with major university libraries and with publishers to build a massive book index. So it’s only natural that students are starting to turn to the resource for their research.
But what is the proper way to cite a Google book in an academic paper? That question came up during a meeting of teaching assistants for a history course at the University of Virginia last month, though an answer wasn’t immediately clear.
Has anyone else come across this issue and can share a solution? Is anyone worried that as more students turn to Google Book Search, they might forgo a trip to the library stacks, where a more complete collection might be found?—Jeffrey R. YoungReturn to Top
