We’re home to the largest, vertical-axis wind turbine installation in the nation, the first sportfish research center in the Western Gulf of Mexico, and an award-winning Oyster Shell Recycling Program.

The College of Business is the driving force behind some of the brightest minds and biggest ideas in the Coastal Bend business community.  Our alumni include Theresa Barrera, a retired Vice President for Walmart, Jessica Jara, External Auditor for Deloitte and Touche’s New York Office, and Entrepreneur Anthony Ciccarelli, inventor of “High Pheels.” The College of Business is also recognized for its many business partnerships with companies like HEB, Citgo, and Frost Bank. Entrepreneurial spirit and innovation are cultivated by the College through its Coastal Bend Business Innovation Center. This small business incubator offers undergraduate students the opportunity for professional business internships with up-and-coming companies and allows graduate students to hone their specialties in the field. Degrees from the College of Business come with the added distinction of accreditation by the AACSB. This distinguished recognition is achieved by less than one-third of universities in the United States.

The College of Science and Engineering is in the race for discovery with research programs such as the premier Geographic Information Sciences (GIS) program in the country, the innovative Plasma Engineering Research Lab, and a nationally-certified Computer Science program. The center ensures that students get the hands-on experience and skills they need to lead in a 21st century classroom.  Our Counselor Education Program is the first in the nation to receive accreditation, for all of its counseling programs, by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs, and the Addictions and Substance Abuse Counseling Program.  The Department of Kinesiology is recognized nationally and internationally for groundbreaking research and excellence in preparing future exercise science professionals.   With a state of-the-art athletic and health science facility and an award-winning faculty, we are providing one of the top kinesiology learning experiences in the nation.

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences provides a solid foundation of learning for the challenging and rewarding world of healthcare. Our nationally-recognized programs provide cutting-edge technology and hands-on experience, while allowing students the freedom and responsibility to evolve into responsible professionals. The College’s Master of Science in Nursing program is ranked as one of the best online education programs by U.S. News & World Report and is now the fourth-largest MSN program in the state. The college has been recognized by the White House on several occasions for its one-of-a-kind eLine Military Program, which is helping veterans with medical experience get degrees faster.
