Confused and sad. Or happy. I'm not sure...

One more paper written by the roomba is done. I have three to go.
Enjoy your evening, Marigolds! I hope class goes well, Lohai. Are you one of those students who sits and texts during class????? <stern look> I forgive you if it's an awful class; I didn't have a laptop computer back in the day, but I did write fanfic stories during one awful lecture series. :-) Hey, it looked like I was taking notes!

Three papers between me and reading A Perfect Blood. Or maybe just one before I turn in early to bed to read some... and then I tomorrow can reward myself with a chapter or so for each paper of student paper I read???? Hmm. I like that plan better.

Paper #2, here I come.....

Apparently, the roomba leaned some things from the kitten; while not terrific, this paper was an improvement over the previous one.

Thus, I am done for today. See you in the early afternoon!

Thursday:
Grade 2nd draft papers- 2 to go
Prep Friday lecture

Urgent:
Get cracking on writing last midterm and final exams
Pick textbook for New Class
Alter repair to back door so it doesn't slam with such vigor
Buy & cook a million eggs
Get Bioette to Girl Scouts Thurs. afternoon.

I'm back. I had to rush away yesterday afternoon because I was press-ganged into dressing up and going to a fancy work thing. Four hours. FOUR HOURS in heels and makeup. I didn't get home until after 10.

w00t everybody!  KILL those Dreaded Tasks, lohai0!  Bioteacher, KILL those terrible student papers!  (Maybe you should adopt the LarryC method and get yourself on board with bourbon and 70s punk rock...)  MM, you KILLED those big rocks (writing and research) first, before the teaching stuff.  You rule.

I finished my Dreaded Late and Otherwise Odd Student Paper grading!  I got in another hour of chapter making-comprehensible for tomorrow morning's meeting!  The only thing(s) I have left to do is average the student grades from the presentations today.

Thanks, Marigolds. That is so encouraging, you have no idea. I am having a s***ty week- there is something intense happening at the university, my advisor is actively ignoring me (partly related to intense university affairs), my husband needs major surgery, and my eight-year-old is on the verge of no longer believing in Santa. I am having a lot of trouble just chugging through and getting my stuff done right now, and the cheering really helps.

Today I'm at the local crunchy-granola coffee shop in hopes that both the atmosphere and the awesome coffee will be more conducive to productivity.

Dissertation:
Freewriting
Note-taking: Book S and at least 1 article
Outline pages (I haven't gotten one done this week but I am going to keep trying every day)

Teaching:
Finish prepping class, including copies
Mark quizzes & record marks
Give class

Personal:
Buy wine
Drink wine

Keep it up, everyone. Bioteacher, there had to be an improvement eventually, and I'm glad it's happened. Lohai, how are you? Marigolds, enjoy your day with Sprout.

Oh, I'm sorry things are so thought right now, MM.  Hopefully fantastic coffee and a change of scenery helped you churn it out? My new favorite book refers to it as "eating the frog"--he says that pretty much anything awful that you've made up your mind to do should just be done RIGHT AWAY without agonizing or waffling, because tht ingrains the habit of agonizing and waffling.  Jump on into the cold water if you're getting in--don't ease in to "get used to it."

So I'm trying to just eat the damn frogs in one bite and get it over with.

Dunno if that helps,  but it's my official pep talk for the day.  (Oh, here's one from Coach Taylor, too.  Hugs and bourbon to you!

Got the 10 pages done in time and had a SUPER hlepful meeting with my advisor. Then had fun with my best friend and her two kids and Sprout all day -- the Borrowers movie, then sword fighting in the yard and swinging/tree climbing, then frozen yogurt. Now bourbon!

Thanks, marigolds. I enjoyed the pep talk and the Coach Taylor.

Dissertation:
Freewriting
Note-taking: Book S and at least 1 article - did half of Book S. Not bad.
Outline pages (I haven't gotten one done this week but I am going to keep trying every day) - nope

Teaching:
Finish prepping class, including copies
Mark quizzes & record marks
Give class

Personal:
Buy wine
Drink wine

Tomorrow we are all off but I am spending part of the morning writing for sure. One frog down, an innumerable number to go.

Marigolds, sounds like you had an awesome day!

The papers are done!
Biogrammy paid a surprise visit, cleaned up the kitchen, did 2 loads of laundry, and took us out to dinner. While I got "less" work done, I'm in a better place mentally and was able to get the papers done after she left! Everyone needs a BioGrammy in their lives.

I'm not "ready" for class tomorrow, but I have enough together than I can fake it. And that's good enough at this point. I"m going to bed!

I hope Friday is better for you, Moodymoodle. And Marigolds, it is great that you had such a terrific day. Savor it!

G'night!

Damn, BT, your mom is AWESOME.

I'm settled into the coffee shop and am partially caffeinated and ready to rock. I have the whole day to write and read (well, until 4 or so.)  So that's all I'm doing--no small rocks today (or at least until this evening.)

Crank it out, lohai0--that's a long-ass list.

Going to do a 25-min sprint of revising yesterday's stuff.  GO!

How was your weekend, Lohai0? That is some list.

It's the Tuesday after Easter and I took three big days off (from work- we spent most of the time labouring like fiends at the cottage).Things are looking up and I'm actually really excited to get back to everything.

This list is, realistically, for today and tomorrow.

Dissertation
Writing:freewriting, one page
Reading: book T, book S
Podcast: readings, podcast

Teaching
Marking 1: exams, participation, record marks
Marking 2: annotated bibliographies
Plan class

Other
Exercise x2
Dinner x2
Prep further post office packages
Laundry
Call C

Weekend was awful, but the proposal (which is more or less a final draft of ch 1-3) will be filed today or tomorrow. This means I now have to deal with the crap I ignored to get through this final push, but I don't care much right now.

Yuck, I'm sorry to hear it was awful even if it was productive.
