The Chronicle‘s coverage of the growing use of recreational drugs on campus reached Page One in January, with an article describing drug-distribution arrangements on several campuses. At Brown University, a dealer with “The Corporation” said the network there twice used a university computer to bill customers who “wouldn’t get uptight” when they found the statements in their mail slots. In unrelated news, we reported that “administrators of many two-year institutions appear unconvinced that the holders of doctorates are well-prepared for teaching.”
