7 Are Arrested Outside Milo Yiannopoulos Speech at Cal State-Fullerton

By  Fernanda Zamudio-Suarez
November 1, 2017

Seven people were arrested on Tuesday night after Milo Yiannopoulos, the conservative provocateur, spoke at California State University at Fullerton, the Associated Press reports.

Fights broke out between protesters and people attending the speech, and at least two people were arrested, a university spokesman told the AP. Dozens of police officers were at Fullerton before Mr. Yiannopoulos’s event, hosted by the campus’s College Republicans chapter. He spoke to an audience of more than 800 people.

This was Mr. Yiannopoulos’s first campus speaking engagement since his “Free Speech Week” at the University of California at Berkeley was canceled, in September.

Another of Mr. Yiannopoulos’s planned speeches at Berkeley was canceled in February, after demonstrations turned violent, with protesters starting fires and smashing windows. The event’s cancellation prompted President Trump to tweet that federal funding should be withheld from the university if it “does not allow free speech.”
