A Breakdown of NYU Board Members’ Industry Ties

May 29, 2014

New York University has been the subject of controversy following the revelation that laborers who built the university’s new campus in Abu Dhabi were faced with harsh working conditions, in violation of a “statement of labor values” it released in 2009.

On the university’s 65-member Board of Trustees is the man who runs the contractor that helped oversee the campus’s construction: Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak.

Here is a breakdown of the university’s trustees by industry. Members are predominantly wealthy, and their backgrounds skew heavily to finance and law.
