John S. Satkowski, vice president for financial, facilities, and auxiliary services at Henry Ford College, became interim president of the college in December. The former president, Stanley E. Jensen, resigned to become executive vice president of college operations at Des Moines Area Community College.
George Snyder, vice president for academic affairs and strategic planning, and a professor of Bible at Davis College, in New York, has been named interim president.

Resignations
Jim Borsig, president of Mississippi University for Women since 2012, will step down on June 30. He plans to work with the nonprofit social-justice group Global Connections.
Dino Pedrone, president of Davis College, in New York, since 2008, is stepping down from that role on January 15. He has been named the college’s first chancellor. In that role, he will serve as a minister-at-large and represent the college at churches and conferences.

Susan E. Henking, president of Shimer College since 2012, retired from that post on May 31. The college was absorbed into North Central College in 2017. Ms. Henking has joined Academic Career & Executive Search as an executive search consultant.

Jacques B. Hadler, professor emeritus of naval architecture at the Webb Institute, died on October 19. He was 99. He had been a director of research and dean at the college.
Philip Pumerantz, founding president and president emeritus of the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific and the Western University of Health Sciences, died on December 26. He was 85.
Suanne Roueche, retired director of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development, died on December 24. Under her leadership, the organization, a resource for community-college administrators and faculty members, grew from 50 members in 1977 to more than 750 in 2008. Ms. Roueche received the American Association of Community Colleges National Leadership Award in 1997.
Jim Tarman, athletic director at Pennsylvania State University at University Park from 1982 to 1993, died on December 31. He was 89. The college won six national championships in football, lacrosse and fencing during Mr. Tarman’s tenure.
Morris (Buzz) Zelditch Jr., professor emeritus and former chair of the department of sociology at Stanford University, died of bladder cancer on December 8. He was 89. Mr. Zelditch contributed to the understanding of how social status affects individuals’ behavior in interpersonal situations, and how inequalities in power become legitimized in society. He won the Cooley-Mead Award for Distinguished Scholarship from the American Sociological Association in 2000.
