Katie Leonard, executive vice president at Johnson College, will become the college’s president and chief executive on July 1. She will succeed Ann L. Pipinski, who has led the college since 2003 and plans to retire on June 30.
Mark Smith, vice president for educational services at Temple College, will become president of Cloud County Community College on February 1. He will succeed Danette Toone, who took the helm in 2010.
Leocadia I. Zak, who was director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency under President Obama, will become president of Agnes Scott College on July 1. Elizabeth Kiss, who has led the college since 2006, plans to step down on June 30.

Joseph L. Jones, president of Arkansas Baptist College for just over a year, was terminated from that post in December.
Ray Keck, president of Texas A&M University at Commerce since 2016, will step down, effective August 31. He plans to take a year of developmental leave and return to the faculty.
Joel Seligman, president of the University of Rochester since 2005, will step down on February 28.

Deaths
Calestous Juma, a professor of the practice of international development in the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and director of the Science, Technology, and Globalization Project at the school’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, died on December 15 after a long illness. He was 64. Mr. Juma received international recognition for his scholarly work in technology and sustainability, and was elected to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, World Academy of Sciences, and African Academy of Sciences.
David Millhorn, senior vice president emeritus at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, died on December 18. He was 72. After retiring as vice president for research, outreach, and economic development in July, he served as national-laboratory-relations adviser to the university at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Muriel Munchrath, emeritus assistant professor in the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing, died on Dec. 27. She was 94. She was on the faculty from 1970 to 1990.
Richard A. Rose, an associate professor of dance and longtime coordinator of the dance program in the School of Theatre and Dance at the University of Florida, died on November 18. He was 61.
