Retirements
B. James Dawson, president of Lincoln Memorial University, will retire at the end of this academic year. He has led the university since 2010 and was previously chief operating officer and chancellor of the university’s main campus, in Harrogate, Tenn.
Steven Gamble, president of Eastern New Mexico University, will retire on July 30. He has led the university since 2001, after serving as president of Southern Arkansas University for nine years.

Anthony Ayers, who was senior assistant solicitor general in the New York Solicitor General’s Office, has been hired as director of the Government Law Center at Albany Law School. In his previous role, he represented the state in cases involving immigration law, constitutional rights, and environmental law. James Leach was appointed interim director of the University of Iowa’s Museum of Art. He is currently a joint visiting professor in the university’s College of Law and department of political affairs. Mr. Leach is a former Iowa congressman and was chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities from 2009 to 2013.
Kellie Sauls, who was director of admissions and financial aid in the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia, has been named executive director of student and alumni affairs in the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. Deaths
David Adamany, a former president of Temple University, died on November 10. He was 80. Mr. Adamany led Temple from 2000 to 2006. During his tenure, he helped to increase student enrollment, hired more faculty, and raised the university’s admissions standards. After retiring as president, he served as chancellor and as a professor of law and political science.

He was known as a successful fund raiser, a strong supporter of athletics, and as founder of the Youth Citizenship Seminar, a summer program in which high-school students study free enterprise, leadership, freedom, and faith.
