Lyn Broderson Cochran, assistant vice president for organizational development at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, became president of Scott Community College, one of three campuses of Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, in August. She succeeded Teresa Paper, who retired.
James Hurley, vice president for enrollment, athletics, and public relations at Lincoln Memorial University, will become president of Tusculum College on October 1. He will succeed Nancy B. Moody, who has been given president-emerita status as she retires from the post she has held since 2009.
Robin Steinback, who was vice president for academic affairs at Moreno Valley College, became president of the college, in California, on July 1. The previous president, Sandra Mayo, resigned in June 2016.
Alissa Young, chief academic-affairs officer at Hopkinsville Community College, will become president on October 1.
Resignations
Stephen Ainlay, president of Union College (N.Y.) , has announced that he will resign in June 2018. He has led the college since 2006.

Steven Altschuler, executive vice president for health affairs at the University of Miami and chief executive of the university’s health-care system, UHealth, has resigned. He had been there for 18 months.
Hamid Shirvani, president of Briar Cliff University (Iowa), will leave his position at the end of the fall semester.

Hannah Frank, 33, an assistant professor of film studies at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, died on August 28 of suspected pneumococcal meningitis.

Raymond Records, 86, former chair of the department of ophthalmology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, died on October 28, 2016. He joined the university in 1970 and stayed for 20 years. The university only recently learned of his death.
Gustavo Sbatella, 52, an assistant professor of irrigated crop and weed management at the Powell Research and Extension Center at the University of Wyoming, died in a motorcycle accident on August 2.
