Background of New Chief Executives at Colleges, 2013-14
Nearly 40 percent of new presidents were provosts/vice presidents for academic affairs or another type of vice president before taking the top administrative position. Almost a quarter were chief executives of other institutions of higher education. More than a third of the presidents appointed in 2013-14 were women.
