Note: Four-year public and private nonprofit degree-granting colleges that participate in Title IV federal financial-aid programs and have 15 or more full-time employees were considered in this analysis. “New hires” are defined as those who were engaged for full-time permanent employment for the first time, or after a break in service (excluding sabbaticals), between November 1, 2017, and October 31, 2018. Tenure-track positions are posts that lead to consideration for tenure. The numbers of newly hired faculty members who arrived with tenure are not shown. Tied institutions are listed in alphabetical order. Questions or comments on the Chronicle List should be sent to Ruth Hammond.
