For those who earned bachelor’s degrees from the University of Texas at Austin in the 12 most popular majors, mechanical engineers had the highest employment rate, and control-systems engineers had the highest median wage, in the fourth quarter of 2011. History majors earned the least. Applied-biology majors had the lowest employment rate, though more than a third of them were pursuing further education.
