Note: The data cover both full-time and part-time employees of degree-granting institutions in the United States that offer associate or higher degrees and participate in Title IV federal financial-aid programs. “Minorities” represents employees who are American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian, black, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, or two or more races as a percentage of total staff members. People of unknown race or ethnicity and nonresident aliens were excluded from the total figures before percentages of minorities and individual racial/ethnic groups were calculated. Percentages in the “race unknown” and “nonresident aliens” columns are based on unadjusted total figures. Race categories are mutually exclusive. The occupational category “instructional, research, and public service” consists mainly of faculty members, but includes some employees without faculty status. “Other” professionals include those working in business and financial operations; computer, engineering, and science; and community service, legal, arts, and media; as well as health-care practitioners and technical workers. More data are available at nces.ed.gov/ipeds/Home/UseTheData.
