Across all public and nonprofit private postgraduate institutions, one graduate assistant was employed for every 1.5 instructional-staff members. That ratio is largely driven by public doctoral institutions, which employed more than 250,000 instructional-staff members and more than 270,000 graduate assistants. That was the only segment with more graduate assistants than instructional-staff members.
