Higher-Education Consultant to Lead Muhlenberg College; Syracuse U. Chooses Chief Advancement Officer

John I. Williams Jr., a higher-education consultant and entrepreneur, will be the new president of Muhlenberg College, in Pennsylvania. He will start July 1, succeeding Peyton R. (Randy) Helm, who is retiring after 12 years in the post.
Matt Ter Molen, an associate vice president at Northwestern University and manager of its “We Will” campaign, has been appointed chief advancement officer and senior vice president of Syracuse University. He will start in February.

William J. Antholis,managing director of the Brookings Institution, will become executive director of the University of Virginia’s Miller Center. He will succeed Gerald L. Baliles, who is retiring at the end of the year. The center, a nonpartisan affiliate of the University of Virginia, specializes in presidential scholarship, public policy, and political history.
Derek Collins, associate dean for the humanities at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor since 2008, will become dean of the faculty of arts at the University of Hong Kong in July.
The Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson, associate provost of academic initiatives at Marquette University, will become president of Creighton University in July. J. Chris Bradberry, dean of Creighton’s School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, will serve as interim president after the Rev. Timothy R. Lannon steps down next month.

Simon Newman,managing director of JP Capital Partners, a private equity firm in Los Angeles, and chief executive of the Cornerstone Management Group there, will become president of Mount St. Mary’s University, in Maryland, next summer. He will succeed Thomas H. Powell, who will retire after having led the university for a decade.
Jenna Templeton, interim vice president for academic affairs at Chatham University since last May, has been appointed to the post permanently. She joined Chatham in 2011 as assistant dean in the College for Continuing & Professional Studies and the College for Graduate Studies.
