The Chronicle of Higher Education has always been known as the place to find a job in academe as well as to read news and advice about the intricacies of careers on campuses around the world. For more than 35 years, job seekers have relied on the hundreds of classified ads every week in our print edition, and, since the 1990s, on our Web site every day.
In the coming weeks you will hear more about The Chronicle‘s plans for the next evolution in helping people find a job in academe—and to help those already employed at colleges and universities better navigate their careers. This new virtual community, called Vitae, will be the premier destination for information about academic careers. Beyond job postings, it will give everyone in higher education from graduates students to faculty members and administrators the chance to network with one another and apply for jobs through a dossier service.
The foundation of the online community will include advice, news, and information on academic career paths (as well as nonacademic ones), finance, technology, and teaching. It will offer tools to help you manage your career with detailed information on institutions and salaries. And it will collect content from around the Web to be a single destination for managing your career.
