Knoxville College is fighting for its existence after the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools upheld a previous decision to revoke the institution’s accreditation.
Knoxville officials appealed the December decision, but the association’s Commission on Colleges denied the appeal last month, citing what it said were Knoxville’s money problems, mismanagement of student financial aid, and lack of long-term planning.
Because Knoxville lacks accreditation, students who attend the historically black college will be ineligible for federal financial aid.
