IvySuccess, an admissions-consulting company based in New York, is being sued for $200,000 by a former client. The plaintiff in the case, Daniyar Nazarbayev, alleges in his complaint that the company instructed him to wire $200,000 to a bank account in Hong Kong, subsequently told him he was not Ivy League material, and then kept the money without providing any further services.
“They told my client they would help him through the application process and advise him on the appropriate tests to take,” said Samuel P. Israel, the lawyer representing Mr. Nazarbayev. “But they only met with him once and told him they didn’t believe he could gain admission to an Ivy League school.”
