The journalism professor at San Diego State University who last year brought the world video report cards -- taped critiques of students’ work -- now is introducing what he calls a “living syllabus.”
The living syllabus, says the professor, Don Sneed, is a short videotape, accompanying a written syllabus, that includes clips from class lectures and comments from former students.
Mr. Sneed plans to help create a department-wide living syllabus at San Diego that will be available to any student interested in taking a journalism course. It will allow students to preview a course and even get acquainted with the professor in advance, he says.
