
Despite the hype, driverless trucks won’t be owning the roads anytime soon, but colleges can’t ignore that significant changes are coming to the trucking industry. So, Amarillo College’s Truck Driving Academy is helping students get a head start on the future. Starting this fall, the college in the Texas Panhandle will offer an associate degree through its diesel-transportation-technician program, in addition to its current eight week commercial driver’s license (CDL) certification. The beefed-up program will focus on new driving regulations and give students a more well-rounded skill-set. Drivers will learn about diesel technology and logistics.
