Note: Data are based on an analysis of approximately 1,500 biographies of cancer researchers on staff at the seven comprehensive cancer centers that received the highest amount of Cancer Center Support Grants, known as P30 grants, from the National Cancer Institute in 2010. Biographical information was found on cancer-center Web sites from November 2012 to January 2013 and through direct contact with individual researchers and staff members at the centers. Individuals for whom there were no biographical data were excluded, and those whose status couldn’t be clarified were either excluded or presumed to be native-born Americans.
