Charleston, South Carolina -- A state insurance fund has paid $75,000 to a student who said she had been sexually harassed by a College of Charleston administrator.
The student accused J. Floyd Tyler, senior vice-president for business affairs, of making unwanted sexual advances on the front porch of a house he occupied on the campus.
Mr. Tyler, who retired last month and moved out of the house, strongly denied the allegations. He could not be reached for comment.
The college would not name the student or release the amount of the award. A local newspaper, The Post and Courier, identified the student as Katherine Masse. The paper obtained her name and the amount of the award from a state Freedom of Information Act request. She could not be reached.
