Three research institutions had at least 10 Fulbright scholars in the 2016-17 academic year, while 21 associate-degree colleges and eight special-focus institutions had at least one. The Fulbright Scholar Program sponsors American and foreign participants for exchanges in the sciences, academe, public service, the arts, and other areas to promote mutual understanding between Americans and people of other countries.
