DEATHS Richard A. Easterlin, a professor emeritus of economics at the University of Southern California, died on December 16. He was 98.
Travis Overton, vice president for executive initiatives and chief of staff at Coastal Carolina University, died at 42.
Sir Fraser Stoddart, a professor of chemistry at the University of Hong Kong, died on December 30. He was 82. Stoddart, who won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Jean-Pierre Sauvage and Bernard L. Feringa, also taught at Northwestern University and the University of California at Los Angeles.
