DEATHS Charles V. Hamilton, a professor who taught at Rutgers University and Columbia University, died on November 18. He was 94. Hamilton wrote Black Power: The Politics of Liberation (1967) with Stokely Carmichael.
Charles Sallis, a former professor of history at Millsaps College, in Mississippi, died on February 2. He was 89. With James W. Loewen, Sallis wrote Mississippi: Conflict & Change (1974), a high-school textbook that offered a frank view of the state’s history.
Clyde Taylor, a scholar in Black-cinema studies who taught at the University of California at Los Angeles and New York University, died on January 24. He was 92.
