Joyce P. Griffin-Sobel, who was dean of the College of Nursing at Washington State University, became president and chief executive of Helene Fuld College of Nursing this month.
Tom Jackson Jr.,president of Black Hills State University, will become president of Humboldt State University in July. The first African-American to serve in that role, he will succeed Lisa Rossbacher, who plans to retire at the end of June.
Lynn Mahoney,provost and vice president for academic affairs for California State University at Los Angeles, will become president of San Francisco State University on July 15. The first woman to serve as San Francisco State’s permanent chief, she will succeed Leslie E. Wong, who plans to retire.
Gretchen Mullin-Sawicki,president of the North Campus and West Hills Center of the Community College of Allegheny County, will become president of New Hampshire Technical Institute-Concord’s Community College on July 1.
The Rev. David Pivonka,who was director of the ministry Franciscan Pathways, became president of Franciscan University of Steubenville this month. He succeeded the Rev. Sean O. Sheridan.

Dwight Watson,provost and vice president for academic and student affairs at Southwest Minnesota State University, will become chancellor of the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater on August 1. He will replace Cheryl Green, who has served as interim leader since Beverly Kopper resigned in December.
John Norton Williams,dean of the Indiana University School of Dentistry, will become interim president of Transylvania University on August 15. He will replace President Seamus Carey, who is stepping down to lead Iona College.
Catherine Wright,vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, and Mary-Jane McLaughlin, chief of staff, will become interim co-presidents of Mitchell College on July 1. President Janet Steinmayer is leaving to lead Lesley University.

Deaths
Wendell Nedderman,president emeritus of the University of Texas at Arlington, died on May 8. He was 97. Nedderman was president of the institution from 1974 until 1992, and was acting president from 1972 to 1974. He arrived on campus in 1959 as founding dean of the College of Engineering when the university was still called Arlington State College.
