DEATHS Mannon Gallegy, a professor emeritus of plant pathology at West Virginia University, died on January 7. He was 101.
Martin Karplus, who received the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Michael Levitt and Arieh Warshel and taught at Harvard University and the University of Illinois, among other institutions, died on December 28. He was 94.
Charles R. Longworth, founder and second president of Hampshire College, died on January 8. He was 95.
Ronald H. Nowaczyk, president of Frostburg State University, in Maryland, died on January 31. He was 74.
Stuart A. Rice, a professor emeritus of chemistry at the University of Chicago, died on December 22. He was 92.
