Lisa Jasinski, senior director of strategic initiatives in the Office of the President at the University of Texas at San Antonio, has been named president of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest.
Gillian McKnight-Tutein, former vice president for student success and interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at Community College of Denver, has been named chief educational equity officer for the Colorado Department of Higher Education.
DEATHS Nancy E. Adler, a professor of medical psychology at the University of California at San Francisco who retired in 2022, died on January 4. She was 77. Adler led the MacArthur Foundation Research Network on Socioeconomic Status and Health, a group that studied the relationship between socioeconomic status and health.
John V. Byrne, who served as president of Oregon State University from 1984 to 1995, died on January 11. He was 95.
Bernard Cohen, a professor of political science who served in many leadership roles at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, including a year as acting chancellor, died on January 9. He was 97.
Claire M. Fagin, a former dean of the School of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania, died on January 16. She was 97. Fagin also served as interim president of the university from 1993 to 1994 and was one of the first women to lead an Ivy League college.
Charles O. Jones, a professor emeritus and former chair of the department of political science at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, died on January 3. He was 92. Jones also taught at Wellesley College and the Universities of Arizona, Pittsburgh, and Virginia.
J.W. Patterson, a professor at the University of Kentucky who was the debate team director from 1971 to 2009, died at the age of 95.
Robert Rosenthal, a psychologist who taught at Harvard University and the University of California at Riverside, died on January 5. He was 90. Rosenthal is known for his work on “interpersonal expectancy,” published in his book Pygmalion in the Classroom (1968).
Peter Schickele, a musical parodist who was a member of the faculty at the Juilliard School, died on January 16. He was 88.
Michael Schwartz, who served as president of Kent State University from 1982 to 1991, died on January 2. He was 86.
Bill W. Stacy, the founding president of California State University at San Marcos, died on January 4. He was 85.
Orlando L. Taylor, senior adviser to the president and former vice president for strategic initiatives and research at Fielding Graduate University, died on January 16. He was 87.
