Deaths
Clayton M. Christensen,a professor of business administration at Harvard University, died of complications from cancer on January 23. He was 67. Christensen, best known for his theories on “disruptive innovation” outlined in The Innovator’s Dilemma: When New Technologies Cause Great Firms to Fail, joined the faculty of the Harvard Business School in 1992.
Allen R. Myers,former dean of the School of Medicine at Temple University, died on January 15. He was 85. Myers also taught at the University of Pennsylvania as an associate professor of medicine and a staff physician at its hospital.

Sister Emmanuel Renner,president emerita of College of Saint Benedict, died on January 22. She was 93. Renner led the college from 1979 to 1986. Before and after her time as president, she taught in the history department. She retired as a professor emerita in 1998.
Michael I. Sovern,president emeritus of Columbia University, died on January 20. He was 88. Sovern graduated from Columbia Law School and became a full professor there in 1960. He served as dean from 1970 to 1979, during which time he hired Ruth Bader Ginsburg as the law school’s first female tenured professor. He became the university’s provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, and then president for 13 years.
